does summer have to be over?

I started a new "nanny/caregiver/babysitter" job last week. Can you tell I'm having trouble what to call my new job? hehe. It's 3 days a week, but it's 10 hour days 730-530, so it's a full time job. The little boy {he's 6 months old} comes over to our house so it has been great and so nice because Maggie Claire can stay on her schedule and nap in her crib. I'm just so blessed to have off on Wednesdays & Fridays! Especially because Friday is Mike's day off, so we declare it
"friday family funday" along with a lot of other families who work at Seacoast.

Since I started this new job we have had less time to soak up the sun at the pool or beach, but are still trying to as much as possible. On Friday, we set up Maggie Claire's baby pool in the backyard and let her play in it. She is just like her momma and loves to be outside. Can't you tell? She loves to cheese at the camera...
I really would like to go to the beach some more before it gets too cool outside, but luckily living in Charleston, you can go to the beach just about anytime up until November! Hopefully this weekend {if the hurricane doesn't hit us}, or next weekend we'll be hitting up the beach. :) What I do love about school starting back is that going to the park is way more fun because it seems to be less crowded. I'll be taking both babies to the park a lot in the fall. :)

Since summer is winding down, the fall brings a whole new season of life that we are starting back up including our Thursday morning Bible study! :) We are doing a Priscilla Shirer study called SEEDS, which I am definitely looking forward to! Also- it's starting to be birthday season! All of Maggie Claire's friends are having birthday parties-starting this weekend, and then it'll be Maggie Claire's 1st birthday in about 6 weeks! I'm trying to prepare myself for this- I am definitely not ready for my baby to be 1 yet. Good thing we still have 6 weeks.

Well, I'm looking at the baby monitor and looks like Maggie Claire is ready to get up and eat some lunch, so I better get back to mommyhood. It's very rare for both babies to be sleeping at the same time, so I was soaking in this blog writing time. Have a great Tuesday everyone! :)

2010 blog year in review

I went through my blog last night and I thought I could highlight some of the things that I shared with you guys in 2010! :)
{I think this is the first post I've done that there has been no pictures!}

January-
* we celebrated the new year in St. Louis visiting family and then traveled in car halfway across the country to Tulsa, OK where we visited one of my very best friends. On January 31st, surprisingly we found out we were pregnant- we didn't tell anyone though until I went to the doctor! :)

* I decorated my house with all of my adorable valentines cupcake findings from my fav store, target. My car got broken into after having a flat tire and leaving it on the side of the road overnight. On February 28th, I announced I was pregnant to all of my blogging, twitter, & fb friends.

*the shopping begins for the little one when I went to the charleston repeats consignment sale, still not knowing if it's a boy of girl yet. We did the thorn for the 2nd year in a row. I laid out in the sun for the first time (my therapy). I confessed that I ate way too many cookies & being pregnant makes me more hungry than ever.

*Easter. My nephew Jack's 2nd birthday. We celebrated Bethany's pregnancy with baby Tate throwing her a baby shower in my apartment. Beth Moore conference- so long insecurity! I got my first big baby gear item as a present- my stroller!

*Found out that I was going to have a girl & announced her name will be Maggie Claire Surratt! My friends and I started our preggo mama lunches. My nephew Tate Cohen was born on May 23rd! Mike & I decided to go on a last minute cruise for our babymoon before I got too big preggo to do anything.

*We missed our cruise ship- sad, sad, sad day! We never got our money back. We went to Atlanta instead of the Caribbean. Elevation summer youth camp. Work. Work. Work.

*enjoyed shopping for shirt & dresses with embellishments: my fav fashion find of the summer. Talked about how much I love pink toenail polish, but I ventured out and did a aqua for the summertime. Shared my obsession for sonic happy hour drinks. My grandma turned 78 & all my family got to see me pregnant at her birthday bash. My new baby nephew peed on me. Mike went to Guatemala & my mom & I painted Maggie Claire's room orange sherbet.

*New blog design. Celebrated our 2nd anniversary together and didn't go anywhere, but I did talk Mike into going to the beach with me. My baby shower{s} have begun. My belly kept getting bigger and bigger. We found a snake in my inlaws backyard. Maggie Claire's room is finally getting all together- the curtains are hung! :) I got a giant knitted cupcake.

*I revealed Maggie claire's closet & shoe collection- kinda scary for a little girl who wasn't even born yet! I went paddleboarding 9 months pregnant. Had professional maternity photos taken. My last baby shower & met my blog friend Hilary. My last month working! :)

*Maggie Claire was born!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Being a mom is amazing. I did weekly updates for her first 3 weeks & blogged about some of her firsts. She was so tiny & oh so sweet! :) Life can't get any better!

*Maggie Claire was a ballerina for halloween & I shared the pretty pictures of her- so adorable! Sent out MC's birth announcements & celebrated her 1 month birthday! Took pictures of MC & the giant cupcake. Celebrated a birthday party for Mac (MC's future hubs) & went to MC's first wedding. It was my golden birthday- my first birthday as a momma. Super excited about the holidays!!! Happy Thanksgiving & we went to the festival of lights as a small group!

* found a sparkly Christmas ornament dedicated to my blog. Took Maggie Claire to see santa claus with her cousins. We celebrated Maggie Claire's 2 month birthday. She got her first shots {sad face}. I shared my Christmas decorations with you guys & my favorite picture of Mike & MC. Merry Christmas! We spent lots of time with family and found out we get to go to California for vacation next year to visit Mike's parents! :)

2010 was amazing. I know 2011 will even be better watching Maggie Claire grow up to be one year old & grow together even more as a family as three!

relaxing

Yesterday it was so beautiful! I woke up and around 10am I decided that I was going to get suited up and head to lay by the pool! I got there and the cleaning guy was cleaning out the pool and he said, "I'm sorry mam, the pool is not open yet." I told him that I didn't want to swim, just lay by the pool. He agreed and said that was fine. So I laid there for an hour and 1/2 and it was pure relaxation time. I had some good reading time because we're still going strong with our Bible in 90 days, We are almost halfway there, I'm in Job right now!

With my job situation right now, I'm always on call in the mornings and lately I have been working every single day all day, but this week, it felt so good not to get called in yesterday or today! I got to enjoy some sun time and I ran some errands & did some shopping, well, mainly window shopping! I'm sure I'll be called in again sometime by the end of the week, or the beginning of next week, and that would be just fine, but it's nice to have a little break! Especially while I'm pregnant! I'm almost to the 10 week mark, every Saturday is my turn around day, meaning this Saturday I will be 10 weeks! :)

I was riding with my sunroof open and my windows down yesterday! It was so nice to wear a skirt all day, and how about my newest pair of sandals that I scored at the Gap outlet, a few weeks ago! I just love them!
Happy almost springtime to everyone! Enjoy the beautiful weather while you can, because I think it is suppose to rain for a few days starting this afternoon! :)

Today I'm staying in, working on some hairbows for some people, and maybe attempting to start on the extra bedroom, which will be the baby room if we stay in this apartment! It is a complete disaster right now, and I really need to get in there and attack the mess! :)

an eventful friday

Today was such an eventful day!

Here's how it went:
*Woke up not being able to breath out of my nose. YUCK!
*Took a shower, which made me feel so much better
*Started cleaning up the kitchen & started the laundry
*Decided it was lunchtime
*Mashed potatoes, greenbeans, & pineapple {Daniel Fast}
*Mike is making us fruit smoothies to drink
*Peeled the potatoes & put the peelies in the disposal
*The disposal got clogged!!!! THE WATER STARTED TO BUBBLE {not going down} AND LITTLE PARTICLES WERE ALL FLOATING IN THE WATER! gross.
*Mike tries to unclog it with his hand.... doesn't work
*then a hanger..... didn't work
* we used the other side of the sink to rinse all our dishes...
*Made mashed potatoes in my NEW kitchenaid stand mixer!!!!
*Played Mike on our new nintendo Wii that we got yesterday!!!! {Mike had best buy gift cards from Christmas!}
*Then we went for a bike ride & I about died!!! My legs were like jello when I got off the bike and I was so worn out! I meant to drive the route that we biked, and I know it's at least 2 miles; we were in this neighborhood down the street that has a lot of hills!!! (Picture above is me after the bikeride!)

After all of that, we called our apartment clubhouse and put in a work order to get our disposal fixed. When I was at work, the guy came & fixed{unclogged} it. Mike said it was the funny guy. He looks just like Chris Farley! I see him driving on the golf cart everyday around our apt & I laugh every time! The best thing about living in an apartment is that we have maintenance guys to come and fix our household repairs!!! AHH-MAZING!

***Other great news is that in 2 weeks I have lost 5 pounds! Mike and I are being more active, working out, going on bike rides, playing tennis, & being active on the wii this year! We are both entered in this Biggest Loser competition to help raise money for an orphan school in Kenya called Christ's Gift Academy. There is no way that we would be able to win because some people are losing A LOT of weight, but it gives me a goal to work for to lose weight! I set my goal to lose 15 pounds, so I only have 10 more to go! I would have to lose 12 more pounds to be at my "wedding weight", which is also another goal to go for! {getting married made me a little lazy & I hardly ever worked out} I've probably just lost these 5 pounds from not drinking so much sweet tea like I normally do every day, because being on the fast, I have given up sweet tea. It's so hard too because at work the lunch lady always makes pitchers of sweet tea for all the teachers!!! SO tempting!

Here's to a fun & busy day and feeling good to be fit!
